Ahmed Taha

Ahmed A. Taha is the current Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation – (GAHAR). 


He has more than thirty- five years of experience in healthcare industry; in the fields of medical education, healthcare provision, and hospital management. He is particularly well experienced in strategic planning, medical education development, leadership, financial stewardship, and total quality management.

 

Professor Taha has been graduated from Kasr Al-Ainy School of Medicine, Cairo University, where he got his Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1986, and received his master’s as well as Doctorate degree in General Surgery in 1990 and 1994 respectively.


Besides, He got Four international postgraduate academic and professional fellowships from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands (1997); the Royal College of Surgeons of England (2003); the Mount Saini Medical Center in New York City, the USA (2007) and Cologne University in Germany (2014). 


He also received a professional postgraduate diploma in Healthcare and hospital management from the American University in Cairo (2011-2012). 

 

Professor Taha has attained many consecutive managerial posts.


He was appointed as the General Director of the New Kasr El- Aini Teaching Hospital(1200beds) (2017- 2019), the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cairo University Hospitals (18 hospitals- 5000 beds) (2019- 2021),and the Chief of Surgery (2021- 2023) at Kasr El-Aini School of Medicine, Cairo University.

 

He is a Founder and President of the Egyptian Association of Diabetic Foot and Limb Salvage, and has 38 publications in vascular surgery, diabetic foot problems, and endovascular interventions, and scientific research that have been published and presented in many national, regional, and international journals and conferences.


 He also supervised and arbitrated many scientific theses.
