Hussein Abdel-Aziz Sayed
For over 35 years, Dr. Abdel-Aziz worked in the fields of statistics and demography combining academic knowledge and practical experience for data collection and analysis.
Besides, teaching and research I held senior positions as Chief, Department of Statistics (1986), Vice-Dean for Graduate Studies and for Education& Students Affairs
I was also appointed Cultural Counselor and Director of the Egyptian Educational Office in the UK (1992-1993).
During the period from 1977 until now, Dr. Abdel-Aziz managed and supervised severalnational research and data collection projects within the framework of Egypt’s National Population Council and the Cabinet Information & Decision Support Center (90 studies covering various fields).
Dr. Abdel-Aziz also contributed to the planning and evaluation of censuses and other data sources, as well as population policies in Egypt and Arab countries and the development of statistical strategies. Dr. Abdel-Aziz was on the editorial board of scientific journal of FEPS.
At the international level, Dr. Abdel-Aziz worked as a Regional Advisor for data collection & population policies within the UNFPA/ Technical Support Team for Arab States and Europe (1994-2000), Chief of Statistics Division for ESCWA (2000-2002), Director of USAID/Egypt Population Policy Project (2002-2006).
In addition to carrying out many advisory missions for various countries covering both statistical and demographic areas.
During the years 2012-2014, Dr. Abdel-Aziz served as a Special Advisor to UNFPA to review the ICPD Program of Action (Cairo, 1994) 20 years later and to ensure its consistency with the sustainable development Goals (2015-2030).
Abdel-Aziz chaired the Technical Committee of the Regional Conference on Population and Development for the Arab region (Cairo, June 2014).
In 2015, Abdel-Aziz was appointed Overall Supervisor for the first E- Census of Population, Housing and Establishments (2017), and he assumed the same post for the Economic Census (2018), both carried out by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Currently, Abdel-Aziz isa member in the High-level Committee responsible for the formulation of Egypt’s national strategy for the development of the national statistical system and collaborating in developing such strategy for Egypt.
