Ashraf Ayoub

Ashraf Ayoub is the professor and honorary consultant of oral & maxillofacial Surgery of the University of Glasgow, UK since 2003. He is the editor-in-chief of Frontiers of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and the director of the university of Glasgow Masters programme in oral & maxillofacial Surgery. Professor Ayoub is an elected member of the dental executive board of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK, and the president of the British Dental Association of the West of Scotland. He is the Glasgow lead of the Scottish Craniofacial Research Group of UK investigating facial deformities using the recent advances in 3D/4D imaging. Prof. Ayoub is the lead surgeon of a team which includes orthodontist, technologist, psychologist, and computer scientist to investigate facial malformations. Prof. Ashraf Ayoub received several awards & honours, published 177 articles mainly on two research themes, Tissue Bioengineering and Facial Deformities. He lectured on the same topic locally, nationally & internationally. Prof. Ayoub research team was successful in obtaining several research grants exceeded a million-Sterling pound to conduct an extensive multidisciplinary research projects to characterise facial deformities and quantify surgical changes. He also supervised many PhD’s in stereophotogrammetry and bone bioengineering, a lead editor of a textbook on the correction of dentofacial deformities. In collaboration with colleagues, he organises the Glasgow biennial course on the recent advances of the diagnosis and management of dento-facial deformities which has been running for 20 years.

Prof. Ayoub is the orthognathic lead of the British Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons to develop surgical and patients’ quality outcome measures. He enjoys the prestigious membership of the Egyptian Higher Education Supreme Council of the Universities of Egypt. Professor Ayoub was nominated for the best undergraduate student teaching award 2013/14 and was awarded the University of Glasgow best research supervisor award in 2015.
