Munjed Al-Sharif

A Senior Water and Environmental Management Expert. He has around 30 years of experience in integrated water resources management, groundwater and surface water modeling and management (quantity and quality), climate change adaptation, environmental management, institutional strengthening, water policy, and publicprivatepartnership.


He Led many projects funded by various international agencies and institutions including USAID, MDGF, UNDP, WHO, government institutions; and private firms.


A professional highlight of Dr. Al Sharif career is the leadership of the MDFG funded Joint Program of the WHO, FAO, UNDP, and UNISCO “Climate change adaptation to sustain Jordan’s MDG Achievements” which spanned from July of 2009 until April of 2013.


In addition, he was a board member in the Jordan Environment Fund from 2018 till 2022.


He published more than 25 research and technical papers, wrote numerous reports, and served as reviewer of professional journals.


Dr. Al Sharif has supervised more than 35 MSc students in the areas of water resources management and control, solid waste management, WaSH, and He holds a Ph.D. in water resources and Environmental Engineering from Kansas State University (1993) He is a faculty member at the civil and Environmental Engineering department at the German Jordanian University (GJU) since April 2013.


He also served as the Dean of the school of Natural Resources and Management at GJU from September of 2015 till September of 2019 and the Dean of Graduate studies from October 2019 to October 2021.


He also serves as the Coordinator of the Humanitarian WaSH MSc program which was developed and implemented through a USAID/BHA and UNICEF grant in cooperation with Action Against Hunger (ACF).
