Samir Hadjiabduli

Samir Hadjiabduli is an accomplished General Surgeon with a rich and diverse professional background. With a strong commitment to providing quality healthcare, he has held various positions in organizations across different countries.Originally from North Macedonia,

Hadjiabduli has dedicated his career to the field of migration health.


He joined the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Cairo in December 2021 as the Chief Migration Health Officer. Prior to that, he spent six years in Lebanon in the same role, contributing significantly to the well-being of migrant populations.


Dr. Hadjiabduli's journey in the field of migration health has taken him to different parts of the world. In Somalia, he served as the IOM Health Program Officer (Gender) based in Nairobi and later became the Head of Sub-Office in Hargeisa. During his time there, he also took on the responsibility of Acting Area Security Coordinator.


In Liberia, Dr. Hadjiabduli led the Sinje Ebola Treatment Center and acted as Head of Suboffice. He also served as the Country Director for Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. in Sudan and based in South Darfur, where he played a vital role in providing primary and Secondary healthcare services to vulnerable populations.


Before joining IOM, Hadjiabduli held several positions, including Senior Health Coordinator at the American Refugee Committee in South Darfur, Sudan. His dedication to improving healthcare in humanitarian settings has been evident throughout his career.


Dr. Hadjiabduli began his medical journey as a Medical Doctor at the International Organization for Migration in Skopje, Macedonia during the Kosovo crisis. He has also worked as a Chief Medical Officer in Afghanistan and contributed his medical expertise in various roles in Skopje, Macedonia.


Aside from his work in the field of migration health, Dr. Hadjiabduli has made significant contributions as a practicing Family Physician and General Surgeon. He founded and directed PHO Urgenta S, where he provided comprehensive medical care.


He also worked as a General Surgeon at the University Clinics of Surgery in Skopje, Macedonia, and served as a Lecturer of 5 topics in 3 languages at the Nursing School "Nikola Shtejn" in Tetevo, Macedonia.
