Shamima Parveen

Dr. Shamima Parveen, who is a medical doctor, has been working with Pathfinder International’s Bangladesh team for about five years. She is an experienced development and humanitarian professional who has worked in multi-sectoral programs in Bangladesh for 23 years with different organizations. Within this journey as a Public Health professional, she worked in the fields of family planning, SRHR, GVB, Gender Justice, and the safeguarding of women and children.

Dr. Shamima always strives to ensure that all development and humanitarian projects adhere to gender markers and take vulnerable women, girls, and boys' needs into account during the program implementation. She has a successful working experience with the World Health Organization, Engender Health Bangladesh, Helen Keller International, and several other national and international organizations. Her involvement in multi-sectoral programs like preventing HIV/AIDS, accelerating the use of modern contraceptives, promoting post-partum family planning in Bangladesh, clinical management of Fistula, etc. have improved her ability to think critically and take informed decisions.

In her current role, she contributed a lot in the areas of Gender and GBV activities that include but not limited to the development of the “Situation Analysis on Gender-Based Violence in Relation to FP-SRH services”, A desk review on GBV with FP-SRH services for the Transgender (Hijra) communities in Bangladesh, “Gender Integration in Family Planning Services (GIFPS)” “Integrating GBV Response into FP- SRH service Delivery” training manual, and the job aid titled “Prevention of GBV in relation to FP-SRH”.

In summary, Dr. Shamima Parveen's remarkable expertise and dedication have made her a pivotal force in advancing public health and gender equity in Bangladesh and beyond.
