Tamer Essam

A Pharmacist and a University Professor, with over 20 years' experience in the Pharmaceutical 

Field, Quality and Accreditation, Research and Academia. Currently, he is the chairman of the Egyptian Regulatory Authority since 2020.


Prof. Essam acted as The Deputy Minister of Pharmaceutical Affairs – Ministry of Health and Population during the period of 2018 - Early 2020.


Earlier, he was the Head of Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Affairs (CAPA) during the period of 2015-2016.


Prof. Essam also stared his academic career at Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University since 2002 as a demonstrator and currently he has been promoted as a professor since 2018.  

 

Additionally, Prof. Dr. Essam has an extensive experience in Quality and Accreditation field. He acted as a Lead and Technical assessor of ISO 17025, Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) in the field of Microbiological and Biotechnological Q.C and a Member of the Supreme Committee of the Egyptian Accreditation Council - Ministry of Trade and Industry, Member of the Arabic Accreditation Council (ARAC), Member of the Technical Committee for the Egyptian Standards for Cosmetics -Egyptian Organization for Standardization (Eos), as well as a Reviewer in many Scientific Journals. 

 

He has been graduated from Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University at the Year 2002 and got his PhD from Lund University, Sweden in the field of Biotechnology at the Year 2006. He was the Director of the Biotechnology Centre, Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University 2009-2013. 

Furthermore, he extended this knowledge and founded the Biotechnology and Life Sciences Department, Faculty of Postgraduate Studies for Advanced Sciences, at Beni-Suef University. 

 

At the period between 2006-2021, Prof. Dr. Essam has published more than 60 Publications. He also supervised more than 20 master theses and more that 10 PhD candidates.


Additionally, he has been a reviewer in more than 10 internarial well reputed peer reviewed journals in the field of microbiology and biotechnology.
